Moto Whip Technician!

Yakshemash!

Just want ot mention an old friend Vincent Fox, if you search for his name in google you'll read some of the awesome things he'd done with his life. I've known Vince for a number of years, meeting through BMX, the trails over Brettons and Rom, he moved away to Dartford, but we still kept in touch. He was making it onto the pro motor cycle circuit and was making a name for himself. He would have been racing the Manx TT next week.

Vince was killed riding his Dad's bike back from an MOT, a car collided with him, and that was that. Vince being Vince, he would have been on the limit. He loved going fast, almost dying a few years ago in a horrific crash, he got back on it and came back more determined. His funeral was an amazing sight a huge convoy of motorcycles arrived after the funeral carriages, it was a really good send off. My thoughts go out to his Mum and Dad, who were so brave. I'd say rest in peace dude, but i know you wouldn't want that. Ride on Vince. x

I had an awesome weekend just gone, met some old work cronies on the friday night and got mashup with them boys, then headed over to meet Alec, Warren, Oliver Cooper (Sorry bro - I was mash up!! x) and Paul. Heather and her buddies were in the joint so that was funny! We headed over to the forum, where we mashed it up further then i threw some sick shapes on the dance floor. All those years of practicing in the bedroom finally paid off..

Saturday i got out on the BM-ex it was good fun, had a couple of hours at the Bolehills, time for reflection.. It was super windy and the company of 13 year olds wears thing soon enough, so I headed back and chilled with Alec, did some servicing of my bike - RACE PREP! Saturday night Rich and brother Mike Shaw came over, it was cool to see them, we hung out, fired up the BBQ, had some cool beers and shot the shit for an evening.. Good to see them guys! Mike is living in Lincoln so Rich (a really good friend from home) will be popping up a lot more often, so i'll get to see him more which would be awesome!

Sunday morning, i awoke to eye of the tiger, it was race day! Peterborough inter-regional. I chauffeured pro racer Alec Townley. He was pysched. He's been putting the training in recently and couldn't make the worlds in Victoria, Canada due to some passport mishaps, so Peterborough Regional it was. He looked sick out there, mashing his bars round in his stem no less than 3 times trying the BIG double on the second straight, it was awesome, the Yoot is committed!

There wasn't many there, only 12 infact in master class, but some fast riders, Tuffy, Jessop, Townsend, Cheetham, Sewell (one fast yoot!) Matt Allen back from a pretty horrific injury but looking good considering, he'll be back in no time, but i was stoked to see him rocking it strong! And let's not forget Townley!

I had fun in the motos getting a 1 2 1 and making the main quite comfortably, i got lane 5 for my efforts so a nice clear run at the first straight, i had Jessop and Townsend either side i think, so i thought i may feel the squeeze but i got some good pull and followed Tuffy into the first turn, i stayed on the lads back wheel for the race, Midlands taking the 1 and 2, Tuffy has the skills to pay dem bills!

Alec made the B final after a points mix up (?!?!!!) and took the second, he would have won on the day, but he unclipped through the pick up triple manual. We hung out for about an hour afterwards just chilling on the 2nd straight, throwing the moto whips down for the fans! ;)

Someone also stole our sandwiches. What is the world coming to i ask?! I found them strewn down an alleyway nnot far from the truck, they didn't have the decency to eat them. Mature cheddar and wiltshire ham.. WILTSHIRE HAMMMM!!!!!

Also went to see die hard 4 last night, i said John McClean is my number one hero, overtaking Jack Bauer, but i immediately regretted my words. Sorry Jack. I love you! Die hard 4, is the business and John McClean is hard as Ken! He took down a F35 fighter jet with a brick. Sheesh-kebab-alab!

So an awesome weekend, some good riding, the sun shone, the beers were chilled, i saw a bunch of my friends and it was slick!

Peace Yo!

Update Schmupdate

Well, its Sunday and its raining again! Man! What gives?!?!

It has been an alright weekend though, it was my works sports day thing on Friday and i've not had a really hard laugh in a while, and this event provided me with many! It was funny as hell! I managed to break my big toe after a rather heinous tackle in the game of sliding football we had on a very water logged field.. But i was still smiling! There was all kinda shit going down, and being a big shape thrower, throwing shapes from all corners of the globe i was the man at inflatable twister, killing the competition.. Awesome! It was all very funny. Bit of a mash up ensued and a good BBQ which went down a treat. Bit of face painting, getting into the spirit of things.. haha

Saturday was a pretty cool day i headed over to Lytham to ride there new track, it was a real nice day and some of my buddies were in attendance, Dave Ive and brother Twarn and the rest of the clan, little Harry is a legend. The Stricklands, Sharpy, Flemdog, Vinegar Tim, the Taylors and Snaz to the el amongst others, was a good day, and it looks like it could really take off with a massively supportive council backing them, it's gonna get hectic in Lytham! A flute of cham-pag-ne before gates settled me in nicely, then some fun promo racing, sheesh. The turns are tight and the track doesn't make for much passing, but the manual gate, the kids going nuts and the cool local vibe, this was true grass roots, and i was stoked to be part of it. I stayed for a few hours riding in the sunshine.. (Yes, Sunshine!!) then had a cool pint of shandy on the seafront with Dave and family, enjoyed the cool air, and it was pretty nice.

I made my way back to Sheffield in the yellow peril (she's back - and back to her awesome old ways!!) We had the BIG 51JR BBQ and quite a few people came over, it was fresh to def! A good chill out and some beers, i wish i'd gone to the Tuesday Club afterward, i didn't as i wanted to ride today, but the weather has been so shat i ended up just fitting some big speakers in my van and doing a bunch of jobs.. All of which i could have done with a hangover! haha.. Oh well..

The weeks have been okay getting riding in most night, a few long road rides and sessions at the Bolehills. Next week i'm hoping to ride every night and get my gates down as much as possible.

So, due to weather, not a great deal of riding, but as much as i can get in. This year seems to be washing away, and it feels like we'll roll back into the early nights without having ridden all that much.. I just hope things pick up a little..

Just heard from Lauren, she went to the European Champs this weekend in Romans, its an amazing part of France with some awesome tracks, we went there on the road trip and it was sick, this was a brand new track, built specially for this race and it looked awesome. Lauren won 2 of her motos and a 2nd in the other, 3rd in her semi, but unlucky in her main and she got a 7th, but it was pretty great for her to be in the main. And it sounded like she had an awesome time with the Sheffield/Norwich Collaboration. Well done are kid!

Thanks for reading, wish i had a bit more juicy goss to throw everyone!

More rain sir?

Well another national weekend and yet more rain! Brilliant! I did however have a pretty decent time though.

I got my van back on Friday morning too and it looks the mutts nuts, with a new intercooler she whistles as she goes! Sounds fast as fook! haha So i took the drive across on Saturday morning over the Penines and the further i went the wetter it got, but my life coaches have got me into PMA big, positive mental attitude, and i was willing the weather to pick up and get brighter for the weekend.

It didn't.

11 riders in 19+ what the hell?! Pretty lame turn out but the guys that were there were pretty much the ones that mattered, the top 10 were in attendance, so although numbers were low it was still going to be a tough one. With no semi final to think about it all counted in the motos. The track was pretty knarley with some big old jumps and a very fast 1st straight, the bottom section is pretty crappy, and the last straight is a set of real nice rhythms. The turns are pretty much useless, and unless your infront, its hard to get your line into the big jumps. The wind and rain didn't make things any easier, but i never gave up hope of the sun peaking through!

I got a 1 4 and 3 in the motos, which i was quite happy with and found my way in the main. I got 4th pick and went for a gate i had success from earlier in the day, lane 3, but for from this moment on we'll call her lame 3.

I got an awesome snap, it felt great and as my secod pedal came round i had absolutely no purchase and bang i was face down sliding down the slick, muddy start hill.. All the way to the bottom.

Sliding alongside me in perfect formation, out of lane 7 was current 19+ series leader Cal Strickland. Bet he was bummed!

One more round to go at Wales, should we pray for sunshine or what?!

High points? My first sleep out in the van, she did me proud. My bike was awesome. Coppull club worked hard. Seeing some of my buddies, i wish more had come along though. Dogs and fireworks. No clips action.

Low points? Catering van was 'orrible, if i had half a chance i'd give them slags all a dry slap! The mud, the persistent rain, the low numbers in no clips and 19+.

The rest was borderline!

Ciao for now! x
