Poor Show!

A poor show on the update front, I got my first ever abusive message today from long time blog reader and killer photographer RB.com thanks for the push.. I'm feeling flat and a bit shitty right now. There seems to be a million things going on in the background, some good, some not so good, and it feels like a lot of weight on my mind. Big decisions to make, and resulting consequences to deal with.

Anyway when I can switch off and escape from it all, its been ace, the night ride scene is big and i'm feeling more and more confident when i head out, hitting the downhills faster and really letting it go. The gym is good, Warren and I did 140kg for 3 on the deadlift and I reckon we could have hit more.. thats all the weight we have so the long running joke about getting eachother a 20 plate each for Christmas may become reality. Oh! It's what i've always wanted!

Cooper got a pretty sick sounding job - well done bro!

This weekend there was an awesome mix of raving, BMX, XC and climbing. After Hospitality at Plug on Friday night which saw big moves being bust to Commix, High Contrast, London elektricty and some bear dark dubstep I rose (too) early to hit Bolehills with Leccy T. This resulted in the pair of us laughing so hard we had sore stomachs! It was awesome. Leccy T has been working super hard on his power recently, and it became apparent that between spitting all over his handlebars and doing squats, he enjoys pedalling up lips and jumping into the backsides. Subsequently smashing his wrists up in the process, i was jumping about 4 feet behind on this occassion so rather then maim my friend I took the suicide route myself and jumped into the up slope of the step up.. I was laughing so hard i forgot where I was and almost killed myself again on the 3rd jump.. Damn son! Was a good blast and a lovely day to be on the BMX, it's been too long!

Warren came up and bought with him a contraption that slightly resembled a BMX but it's been that long that I don't even know if he knew what it was. After that we headed into town and did a bit of shopping, i'm looking for a padded, winter lumberjack shirt, i found one for £7 on the moor but had no cash, so i'll be going back for that badboy soon. It made me look and feel exceptionally pikey. Perfect.

A big chill out saturday night and gourmet burgers at the Harpers, delicous. Sunday i felt much better after a big sleep, so Essex boys Will, Dave and myself along with the African headed out to the peaks for a fun blast on the XC whips, just a 2 hour loop, with some fast downs and plenty of mud! It was sick! We all had at least one item of gay clothing on, Dave in his skin suit thermal layer, warren in his tights and Will in his ear warmers, I topped the bill wearing all of the above items, well not the head warmer.. I have to draw the line somewhere! There were moves being bust all over, and Warren tried to bust a sneaky inside line on me through blackamoor, unfortunately though, a moss covered tree stump saw him go down hard, gotta say the brother was committed!

After we'd washed up and eaten we were then joined by Lauren and hit up the climbing wall, i've not been in ages and it felt great to be back in there busting moves, and feeling the pump. I think everyone enjoyed it, so i'm excited for more sessions in the future.

A full on, exhausting weekend, and I loved every second of it. Back to reality and the decision making now, i'll keep you posted RB!

Love to the Hood!

Don't Stop Dreaming

Holla!

Things have been pretty good recently, i shan't bore you with the details but the gym work is going exceedingly well, the bike time i'm getting feels good, and i'm feeling super positive about what is ahead of me.

I've been pondering recently about what to do next year, class wise. I've been training hard, I believe harder than the majority of 19+, hell, i reckon some of the elite guys are slacker than what I been bussing! But with me it's in the head, I need to get on that gate and know in myself i've done the work, I have the strength and the skill to do well, but alas i fall at the first mental hurdle. I do feel more confident now, and with that maybe I'll break down the barriers and get on with the business.

With me, I want to be racing in the most competive class, now that may not be the fastest class, but i'd rather be racing 20+ guys with semi finals and the like than going grand-prix style racing with 5 other guys as it was at one of the nationals this year in Elite. So for me, i think the decision to ride up will be made when the depth of the Elite class becomes apparent. This year 19+ was the most competiive class (apart from maybe 11-12 and 13-14 male!) so it was definately the place to be.

If everyone who says they're going up, does, then elite should be a deep class with a strong amount of competition. Either way, I'm psyched for it.

Planning on hitting the Belgian indoor race in January, and the France roadtrip is on for sure, so again, super pysched for that, best week of the year, get on it if you can!

I hit 120kgs on the squat rack for 6 the other day which i was stoked on and 125kg for 10 on the deads.. I was nowhere near that last year, so this home gym thing is definately where it's at! Warren is getting stronger every week, and surpasses me n bicep curls already, he already won the BBC (big bicep challenge) in work.. So what chance do I have?! ha ha

The weekend gone I had an amazing time down in London, we went to the Don't Stop Dreaming - Episode 1 - Chasing dreams trailer in Fulham. It's a Body Boarding/lifestyle/enviromentalism movie created by Colin Van Dongen, A "Saffa" that's been travelling the world hitting up legendary wave, and putting his neck on the line to create this movie. I first met Colin at Warrens wedding, in fact he crashed at 51JR and I immeadiatly liked the guy, he has some pretty hectic stories and always has something to say, a top top guy. He also has serious skills on the camera box, and in the editing suite. Props Bru!

Anyway, check the trailer on the site above, it's something I never thought i'd be into, but seriously, it's epic and I was buzzing off it.. Anyone fancy hitting Haiwai over Christmas? Thats when the wave is cookin' ha ha

RB.com was in the joint, and I travelled down with the wonderful Warren and Hannah Harper entourage. We hooked up with Terry and did some shopping, got some sick new pumps and a few other bits, had a few drinks here and there, some good food, and the best company.. Perfect.

This coming weekend i'm looking forward to some bike time, well, as much as my legs can handle, its been too long, and i miss it. Bolehills, i'm coming for ya!

Be lucky!

Title?

Blogspot has gotten me down recently, i haven't felt inspired to write about much, the other blogs I check daily have been keeping entertained, i quite like the idea of Rich Eames approach to try and avoid writing about bikes or training, but right now, in my life that all there is going on! Whether i be on the road bike, the XC whip, in the gym, ERRYDAY! or riding my BMX (which i must admit has been few and far between of late) there isn't a great deal left in my ever exciting, roller coaster of a life.

Hold on tight!

So I crashed my road bike, I hit a cattlegrid a little skew and BAM down i went, it sucked and it hurt, then i had to roll home 9 miles on the rim as I blew my tire out, it was freezing, and i couldn't open my hands once i got in, it was like I had a Sloth claw for hands.

Other than that training is good, although last night i felt weak. But one bad session out of 12 can't be bad, steady progress and big gains every week. I'm becoming addicted to deadlifts! ha ha.

XC night rides have been fun, whether it be solo or with the ever efficient german, or the incredible bulk that is Warren, they are fun, and I have begun to love my XC machine. I wanna get involved with some HC XC IN THE WC with paddy and coops soon though, they sound pretty hectic!

So, in other news the Republicans are out, I'm happy with that. Now i'm fully aware that it was always Bush's entourage making decisions for him and he wasn't the sharpest tool in the box, but he did offer us endless entertainment, i'm glad he's out though. Now Obama offers something different, when that guy speaks he carries himself better than any politician i've seen or heard, he captures the audience and reels them in, and you can't help but admire his eloquence and passion. I always enjoy a good political debate and some of the recent ones i've seen with Obama have been real engrossing. He's a true leader and even though i'm sick of hearing the word change, i'm sure a change is coming and for the better for sure. Big up Obama! I shouted that once at a folk gig. It went down a treat.

It's funny how people around the world take greater interest in American politics over their own countries. British politics pales in comparison, but I suppose whatever happens in the US of A affects us all. Old Gordie needs a little time in charisma school.

The midlands talent team sessions are underway, i did the first session at Derby last Saturday, it went well and i'm excited for the future sessions. We do have some skill in the Midlands, and although there is a lot of back biting and miscommunication at times i'm hoping that i can work with some of the other coaches in the region and bring on this skill and put the Midlands back on the map!

A final big up to Rich TM at UrbanAir HQ.. Or should I say UrbanAir/Fox?!

Hell yeah, he managed to get us a factory hook up! Look out for big pimping urbanairsters at a national near you! Holla!

Damn, i need some pictures to glam this bitch up!
