A beautiful mind? Nope.

I got locked out, i had to call a locksmith. It hurt.

Just about sums it all up I think.

Got Soul?

I saw this on a forum and loved it, classic anthem of my past, still a heavy roller these days on any hip hop playlist! If you don't know - Get to know!

Believe it! Update coming, the smiles got in the way.

Holding it down with the hazardous...

Thats Philadelphia, where the American flags crack in the summer breeze and American people come together to stand united over the birth place of American Independence, and 4 lads from Yorkshire come to take the piss..

It was a good day out though, running up the rocky steps, buying an "infamous" Rocky Ice from a man that took his job far too seriously, i was like, cool cart man, he was like, yeah, i didn't build it, or make the ices, but i made the sign... No shit, i said.. He wore a bow tie and the illest shirt i've ever seen, regardless of all that though, he was good at his job.

Taking in the scenery of the city where the declaration of independence was first signed, seeing the liberty bell which was really small and nothing short of a disappointment, it even had a massive crack in it, what a load of tripe.

The way they were banging on about it though it was like the world began in 1776. But i'm a cynical Englishman who finds getting patriotic about my own country difficult at times, let along reveling in that of others!

Not unlike this guy though, this must be Americas most patriotic citizen.

IT?! IT IS!

Friday night I was pooped so i chilled and watched Notorious, which was quality. I was never a fan of Notorious, not for a long time and i certainly never felt all that west coast/east coast bull, but recently i've been appreciating him a lot more, so watching the film seemed like the next step. He was a rudebwoy! Get me! Even though he was a banger, a womaniser, a drug dealer, he was I suppose a product of his surroundings and no doubt, one the greatest rappers out there and it was all cut short over nonsense. Shame really.

Saturday I had a blast of a day, I got up early ran a few jobs, had an incredible breakfast, then headed to the trails, i planned on having an hour but i got in the flow and there was a good vibe, so i ended up being there for over 2 and a half, it was cool, met a dude from Jersey who has some private trails, pictures on his phone looked great, so i got his deats and think next few weekends i'll be on that!

Afterwards i rode to the park and got my climb on at worthless, there was a couple from Holland and they were sick, plus super cool, they showed me a ton of stuff i'd never even thought of, so i had a quality session there. After about 90 minutes i fancied a change, so i rode to Rat Rock, it was such a beautiful day i thought it'd be chocker, but i had it to myself almost - Crazy. I had another hour there, but my hands were ragged, so i called it. Good pump, got some new problems under my belt and it felt good to be back in the rhythm.

Saturday night I went to dinner with Kate and her folks, they were in NYC visiting and Kate asked if i wanted to meet them and grab dinner - I was a bit nervous, representing Queen and country is a big deal.. I'd heard a lot about them both, and I had a blast of an evening. They were super cool, easy to be around and laugh with, I think it went well, everyone seemed ot have fun sand the food was wonderful. Stoked! Afterward I went and met Justin, had a few beers then rocked out on rock band, which i still suck at!

On Sunday it was another awesome day in NY I got up and thought i'd try another spot up in Queens, in a place called Cunningham park, this is a bit of a mission, riding across town and south to Lexington and 63rd to grab to F train all the way to the end of the line.. Riding down Lex on the BMX!

From there its like a 20 minute ride through Jamaica , which is a pretty sweet area, I was expecting it to be kinda rough (Eddie Murphy did nothing for it in the hit movie - Coming to America) but from the subway to the trails it was all good! The trails are legal so part of me was expecting something like Highbridge where the jumps are pretty steep and short, but all filled in, but what I found was super steep, long jumps, the middle half heartedly filled in to please the man, lovely bowls, hips, turns, the sun squinting through the canopy onto the most perfectly formed dirt i've seen in a while. I thought I was dreaming, i never thought for a minute i'd have something like this so close to Manhattan. I was buzzing, i got my helmet on and had a few runs around the pump track which has more lines than Daniella Westbrook, and it was super fun, then to the trails to get my flow on, they felt awesome. After about 6 or so runs i was getting into and made it through the pack which has 10 sets in it. I was absolutely buzzing!

The guy that builds them is this sound dude called Rob Campbell who i recognised but couldn't place, there were some guys there that worked at Brooklyn Machine Works, we got chatting and they were like yeah, he's a pro skater, runs his own shop and wheel and deck company, this guy was so damn humble and grounded it was a bit of a shock, he was super cool about us all riding and we got the trains going on and it felt good to be sending it.

This is a video i found by some MTB dudes (there's a bunch of XC singletrack type stuff in the park too) Rob is the bad ass with the dreads and the camo shirt - Legitimate Bruv! The trails have been extended to come back up, bowled out a ton more between jumps and a lot of the dirt taken out from the middles to make them a bit bigger and steeper.. But you get an idea!

Love Vimeo, hate 5 minute long videos of mountain bikers being gnarly

I headed back to the City and grabbed a lovely dinner with Kate, we were going to hook up with Justin and those cats, but it never panned out. Oh well, we banged heads over some connect 4 which i owned and then i got owned at Jenga over a few beers. I had a lot of fun.

Monday we got up to another awesome day and i was kinda stuck for ideas, i was thinking of heading out to Shoreham BMX track so i called ahead and the lady on the phone was a complete prick and completely unhelpful, so i jogged it on and went to the trails at Cunningham again, i expected to shred an hour then call it a day, it ended up being a 6 hour marathon, of riding, shooting the breeze with my BFF, eating (amazing) cookies, digging a new jump and getting it dialled in, and more riding, it was intense!

I subwayed back and then held onto a taxi to give me a ride uptown, i was pretty beat! But so, so stoked on what had been an incredible weekend.

3 day week (psyche!) as I'm shooting off to Maryland with Kate to go to a wedding - Sheeeeet, call me integrated or what!?

Definitely gonna be calling in on my boys Avon and Stringer and seeing what's good in B-More! No doubt!

Late!

Cul-Cha!

Fuerta Bruta was incredible, I had a great time, it would be difficult to describe and not make it sound like a load of shit, but it is just an overload on every sense, the sounds, the bass, the lights, the dance, the energy, the noise, the originality.. I have never seen anything like it, as i don't think there is anything like that out there, i will definitely be going again, its an hour long so you can just slot it in to your evening and I left feeling absolutely buzzing afterward, and cultured..

Following the spectacle we had pizza from this incredible place called serafina, ben and jerrys ice cream and summer ale, it was a TREAT! I managed to lose my phone though. Got a new one sorted, but i could have done without that.

Hit the gym Monday am and felt great, i think everything is back to normal, once i get my social though i will get looked at, just get my bloods taken.. Innit Blood!

Tonight i headed into the park, like a few blocks over the crib and got my boulder on, its quite a small roc, having only 7-8 problems, but they were all pretty tough, i managed to do 3 and a most of another, the others were pretty sketchy without a crash mat as they overhung a pretty hectic rock on the ground. It's similar to the grit in Sheffield, but is much sharper, i guess it hasn't weathered as much, my hands are pretty torn up, but i feel pumped and psyched i got to climb, be outside and feel quite free.

There are a few boulders in the park, this one is called Worthless Boulder, then you have rat rock and cat rock

The other rocks have many more problems but they are also a lot busier, i'll definitely be getting more involved, getting the pump back felt good!

There were a few others there, including a couple that were using the word dude, far too much and a little awkwardly, and i think i even heard KUDOS a bunch of times too. Which made me laugh and think of Warren. The other guy there was a Turkish nuts 4 nuts vendor, called Taheel, he was sound, and in the short time i spent with him he told me he was an illegal immigrant, i was like, man, that is AWESOME! He was stoked.

Long weekend coming up got the friday and the monay off and i'm psyched for plenty of downtime, bike time, you time and me time.

Kudos!!

My apartment is infested with koala bears..

..It's the cutest infestation ever!

I have almost gotten back to normal, i think the week resting i had, a few early nights and skipping my gym sessions has helped me massively.. It is hard for me to stop though, i always feel like I have to push myself and go big, or work until i fail, and when i don't I have these notions of guilt, Which is ridiculous, but it's the way I am.. I am going back to the gym tomorrow morning but i'm just going to take it slow and steady, build up at a pace that I am comfortable with and if I begin to feel weird i'll stop and take another few days.. But I think i'm back in the game!

I took a light ride out to Nyack yesterday and it was beautiful, I was just going to stay local but it was a nice day and the park would have been torturous.. So i took the River Road and pretty much had it all to myself, there had been another rock slide so it was closed to traffic, but there were there incredible birds, i've never seen anything like it, they moved through the air like sealions in the ocean, a few flaps, then they'd bob through the air with their wings all tucked in like little rockets, i saw them ahead of me and laughed, then a little later on i had about 7-8 of them all around me, like a school of dolphins, it made my day up to that point! I still don't know what they were.. But one thing is for certain they weren't ducks!

Afterwards I went to the Met Museum with Kate and took in some culture, and then a drink on the rooftop bar, overlooking Central Park, it was awesome up there, especially as we'd been forecast shitty weather, but it came through.. Apparently we did have super rough weather in the morning but i was comatosed in bed after my 4am bedtime..

It was DUB:WAR NYC and Appleblim and Scuba went at it, it was freakin' sick, and there were no blown speakers, chinos, boat shoes, or white shirts in the place! It was a big throwdown and I got pretty mashed up to the 2 step, i had a lot of fun, i'm psyched for the next one! So i slept through until about 10:30 and missed all the rain - Touch!

Tonight i'm going here it looks pretty awesome, described as visually genius (does that even make sense?) by the man that bought the Miss California Beauty Queen to her knees, not in that way.. My UK crew won't get that as its bullshit news that no one cares about, but every morning.. EVERY morning she is on the news again defending herself, she basically said she wasn't in to gay marriage and that's that, she had an opinion and has been vilified for it.. But what makes me laugh is, really, who cares? She is a nobody. But I guess it sells papers and pads out the morning news.. I love the news anchors though, impeccable tans, white teeth, crisp shirts and 5 tubs of hair gel to get that quiff to stand on end.

I feel i'm losing touch with international affairs here, if it doesn't happen in the US, did it happen?

So i'm feeling better, and feeling very happy right now.

Love to he massive!!

This is Beautiful.. Over and over and over again..

Fail!

I'm not sure what is wrong with me right now - I feel different. And not in a good way. I collapsed in the gym on Monday, I had had a long and very good weekend, Dave X White visited and I showed him the sights on NYC, we ate out a few times, Ocean Grill was incredible, we rode my bikes about and toured the West side, the Park, along the River and hit a party vibe up, it was so good to have him up in the place.

Prior to Dave coming I got all metal on friday night and went to see Lamb of God, As I lie Dying and Children of Bodum.. I'm well not metal anymore and didn't feel at ease amongst the tight leather pants, the bad tattoos, the terrifyingly over weight, yet ultra comfortable with my look fat dudes, and the 36 tons of hair. No longer my scene, although the music was tight and metal bands know how to work up a circle pit!

Dave left on sunday and I headed to Highbridge park on the BMX where I rode for almost 4 hours, the pump track and the trails are by no means big, scary or are there that many, but the vibe up there was awesome, i met some super cool dudes, and the yoots were amazing. Going big on 24" framed gary fisher mountain bikes and brakeless k-mart specials, major props! I was just psyched to be on the bike and i felt good, throwing in some moto action and feeling so happy to be on the bike.

It's a pretty sketchy neighbourhood, but it is a community and there is definitely that vibe.

Sunday evening was just amazing. In every way, good food, good company, slumdog (why had I snoozed on that movie - it's big!) and it was just wonderful.. I am zoning.

Monday morning we rose early and I headed ot the gym, I felt on point and I hit a 455lb deadlift for 2, which is a new PB, no straps, no belts, just chalk and bare feet. Then i went to the bench to start my pressing, as i sat down to right in my journal i felt a little sick, i stood up and my legs went from beneath me i went to grab the bench but missed, i hit the floor pretty hard. I got picked up by one of the dudes in there, we're all on the same rota, and there was genuine concern, which made me feel better. I got in a taxi and went home, it was about 6:45 at this point. I laid on my bed and next thing I know is i wake up and its 9:30, I stayed home and rested that day, and i still don't feel right today.

As I still don't have a social i don't have insurance, so I'm in a pickle, I need to get looked at, i'm sure it is just over-exertion, but i'd still like peace of mind. I couldn't even keep up with this old chinese man on his bike this morning, but when I eventually got near that sucker I saw he was one of those electric bikes.

This week = Stop & rest.

Apartment Snaps!

Shots of the apartment after sorting the furniture, I still have a few more things I want to do, like hang 1 or 2 more pictures (RB!!) sort out the intricate network of cables (GAH!) around the TV and computer.. I bought an Airport express, so i'm fully wireless and can also stream my music wirelessy too, which i am so psyched about!

Yeah, i'm watching Top Gear - Whatcha gonna do?!

ROFL!

I can't stop laughing

True or False?

It gets harder to write an opening line for these things, yesterday I sat at my macbook for like 10 minutes with my fingers poised, a serious case of bloggers block setting in.. and that was just for the title. As my friend said it should be fun or its not worth it, so i gave up on that and here I am again trying to start afresh.

Despite not being literate enough to concoct a title, or think about what to write afterwards, lots of stuff has gone on. There has been road traffic accidents, trips to ikea, bicycle rides, explorations, slapping of cheeks, good food, good music and great company. Work has been alright, but it's kind of boring right now as the project I am working on blah blah blah.

So I went to a Ikea on Saturday and buy loads of cheap flat packed badness for my apartment, actually built up it looks pretty good, and i'm kinda stoked with the apartment right now. I got a coffee table, a sofa, a TV stand, a rug and some bits for the bathroom, its beginning to feel a little more like a place I can remotely call home. Although looking out the window i saw a rat as big as a domestic cat in the yard below - sheesh, luckily i'm on the 4th floor, and rats can neither fly nor climb drain pipes* so i should be safe.

* - they can, and i'm not. Climb drain pipes that is, not fly, that'd be pretty awesome. And rather than wanting to come back as a Dog, or an animal of the Serengetti in my next life i'd come abck as a flying rat. Absolutely. They say you are never more than 4 feet away from a rat here in NYC (even on the Upper West Side! ;), but I have 12 foot ceilings, so if I made some sort of bungee arrangement and suspended myself 6 foot above the floor, and 6 foot from the roof, i'd be 6 feet away, thus blowing that theory to bits. It just isn't practical though.

I also don't have 12 foot ceilings. but that wouldn't matter if they flew. All up in your grill and shit.

I do have whiplash though. As we were involved in a pretty major RTA with a Nigerian Taxi Driver who had a machete in his belt. Also in the back of his cab was Ricky the Hitman Hatton, on his way through NYC after his terrible performance in Vegas. It's alright Ricky, I still love ya. Anyway, he was sooo mad and I was like calm down, you're causing a scene and there are children about.

We were in a U-Haul truck with all my furniture in the back, immeadiately my concern lay with the welfare of my 250 dollar couch, it was upholstered in Egypt with fine silks and cottons and filled with the wool and down of blessed lambs, geese and quails.

It was alright though and an 80 year old Jewish man helped me get it up the stairs. Tough sons of bitches. Tighter than Rambos headband though.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash, and the police came and they were cool, unbelievably there was no damage to the truck, but i'm sure the front struts were a bit bent, as the front wheel took all the impact. The cabby lost his front light and his fare. I saw Ricky wandering off up Broadway towards the strip club on 102nd.

So the apartment looks swish and i'm stoked. I then had a really good ride and sweated out the previous nights excesses and the whiplash.

Sunday the weather was a joke, I wanted to go to an outdoor music festival/New Paltz or Shoreham BMX track but the rain was relentless and squandered my plans. So I went exploring in Highbridge park where I found some pretty good trails, a pump track, some gnarly XC stuff (albeit only a 2 mile loop, the bits I saw looked fun). So i'll be heading up there to ride once the rain ceases.

I then went for coffee with Kate and bought some moss for a succulent arrangement, it was funny, the market dude was a legend. Then went downtown to meet up with a few others for some drinks and live music, I had a really good night!

Up at 5:30 for the gym which went really well too, so psyched on it right now, i just hope I'm not a stiff duck when i get on my Beeemex. Cos that'd be rubbish.

I'm feeling good here, I miss everyone of course, but the adventure feels like it is only just beginning, and with planed visits from Big W, first hand AT, RB.com and Fera, and perhaps others, I have everything to look forward to. Love you All!

Shout out to Lauren and the UK massive who held it down for the UK in Italy this weekend, that track looked ser-weet! Jealous of you guys!

Okay, its 5:30, I have a date with a mac specialist and the washing machine. Sigh.
