A Relaxed Approach

Since I last wrote I haven't ridden too much but what bits I've done they've been pretty fun! I went back to Essex on Friday night and hung out with the rents a bit, talked for a couple of hours and generally caught up with things. I hit the sack quite early as i wanted to get up early Saturday and do a bunch of jobs. I managed to get the sub fitted in the van (finished it off last night and WOW! it sounds amazing!) washed the van inside and out, helped my Dad do a run to the tip and had a good lunch. I then got spritzed up and suited and booted and headed to Chris Garners Wedding in North Ockendon, I arrived just as Jemma was walking up the path to the Church - Whoops! I got in just in time! The service was very nice and it was super cool to see some of my old school friends too.

After the service there was a big slap up meal, the speeches, then a pretty cool party with a completely free bar (Thanks Guys!) I took it steady though, i'm kinda over getting completely torn up, and i wanted to make the most of my sunday too, still i had a very good time, danced loads, laughed a bunch and mingled with everyone, DC party renaissance.

I got home pretty late, and sat up with the cats for a bit, Alf is almost 18 now, but he's still going strong, a super cool cat with incredibly bad breath! It's shit not having Frank about though, i always liked coming home and sitting with him for a bit, I do miss the old boy.

Sunday I got up and went to see my old friend Laura at her stable, we hung out and she introduced me to her horse Zambra who we then washed! People wash horses, who knew?! It was a pretty fun experience and Zambra enjoyed it I think, Laura and I had breakfast and caught up before she headed off on her Piaggio put put scooter and I headed back home, it was a lovely morning.

I grabbed some lunch then got the push iron and headed to Warley Woods in Essex, this was my old spot where many friendships were made, my Brother from another Mother Will and I hooked up at Warley many many years ago now, and we still tight now, the mutual bond of bicycles and dirt is a strong one.

Anyway, Warley has gone off! The locals are all pretty serious, and the trails are no joke. I walked into the clearing and there were a bunch of yoots in skinny jeans, gloves in back pocket, upturned 59fiddy caps, rolling heavy through what was the main line, it looked sick, and i had that immeadiate intimidation thing going on! But i soon started chatting to these breadrins and cracked a few jokes and they soon warmed, i was in! I asked about speed and if there was anything to watch out for. These wasn't anything really to get warmed up on, so it was just to take it one step at a time. I soon had the main line down and i was buzzing, there was some awesome pump bumps, and turns thrown in to the set, it was sick! Then there was a big line on the right, and it was BIG! I'm heading back soon fo sho! I eventually made it all the way through that, but on my first attempt at the last in in the set i landed flat botom, I have no idea how i stayed on! The yoots seemed stoked for me and I think I got the session pumped up! I had to head off for a BBQ though and I said i'd catch up with them again soon. Fo Sho!

Rode Bolehills last night and it felt well flat! ha ha. Get some more riding down this week, i'm loving the BMX right now, it's always good to mix it up a bit. Jez called last night and asked if I wanted to ride Manchester superX track this Thursday, but I don't know if I can get there, work is killing me right now. I'm not sure how long the track will be around for, i'd be pissed if i didn't get a ride of it, or at least a go down "that" hill.

I'll keep you in the loop!

Late!

No Beef Just Vibes!

You Wot you Wot?!

Cheesy, but i'm actually feeling that rave tune, not into bassline normally, but maybe the summer weather has gone to me head.

Its been an awesome week, rode Derby until dark on Tuesday and had an awesome session, it went off, i did some coaching early on, then had a BBQ, then got the push rod out and had a couple of hours, i struggled on the jump into the 2nd corner last week, this week i was feeling a bit better, had some creative influence from all the local shredders and got over it smooth as, i was pumped! I want to jump the entire triple into turn one, maybe next time around. Gloves on for that badboy!

Tonight we locked it down at Bolehills, again riding until dark, smiles for miles, i love Bolehills. Phil over at gravity slaves got his new Nikon 300D out with super long lens and took some fresh shots, an old boy bought up a suitcase of trophies for us to dish out to the kids, the track was smooth and lippy, and everything just felt good.

Loads of riders in the mix Mooonbaay is all over the BMX scene now, the knee causing less and less grief and the turn bars are getting more and more clicked. Gloves in the back pocket is the next step mister! Lauren rocked up from Derby with her van modified to seat 5 now, the seat cost her 2 quid or summit, straight out of a national express! Pete, Jim, OC, AT Big W and Devan, he's only 12, but he's massive. The session was sick, and i was stoked afterward, had a curry, and a glass of red wine whilst i did my ironing, tell me i ain't hardcore!

No burnham for me this weekend, over that place and I have a wedding to attend in essex on the Saturday. A wedding specialist as Bates referred to me as, ha ha! should be a good laugh, i also plan on clocking some road miles up Saturday morning on them smooth Essex roads and then hitting Herne Bay on the Sunday. Sick!

Good luck to the ravers hitting up Burnham, see you at the next one!

Out!

yes! Currently stood in the apple store awaiting the sign up process to get a new iPhone, I'm pysched! I'm typing this out on one in store now. It's pretty awesome!

The bolehills (all day rave!) was a complete success we managed to make a good few quid for the club, have a lot of fun and ride our dirt bikes in the sunshine (mostly). I even managed to race and win Motos like it weren't no thing! Even though I was shattered! Come final time I was goosed I lead it until turn 2 when regional hero came by to take the win. He was stoked, I wasn't bothered, I was stoked that the day went well, the weather was pretty good and the beats were pumping all day, fresh to def!

Steve taylors wedding do was mint too on Saturday night, hectic party vibe, booze, food and dance offs to soulja boy and run DMC. Awesome night and everyone looked mint! I'm getting into this dressed up ting!

It was great to see everyone this weekend and I was pumped that RB.com guested my second moto, came last but did a manual and an x up! Holla!

Pictures to come! It's iPhone time!

Race Prep.

The big race at Bolehills is this weekend and right now the weather suits me and the dirt turns just right, keeping them lightly drizzled and sticky for some big rails and move busting in that 2nd turn.. Although those suckers gotta get close to me first!

I worked late last night, then headed straight to Bolehills with the whacker plate, i hate that damn thing, it must be the heaviest, most awkward thing in the world, and that sucker breaks my back every time i go near it. I did get a lot done though, and worked into the night a little, it was alright though, as I had ex. front man of Hot Water Music (my all time favourite band) Chuck Ragan's live solo album, that made the hairs stand up on my neck, and gave me a second wind of energy every new song. Absolutely amazing. God Deciding has to be one of the best songs ever written. It's in my top 5 for sure. And afterward I realised I had done much more than I had planned and then had a scary moment getting the whacker into the van. I couldn't lift it, I was so done in. But I thought about my form and got my shit together and in she went, after much trepidation.

I slept like a log, and had messed up dreams, i'll just forget about them! All those unleaded fumes, dirt and exertion took its toll on my mind.

Anyway, Bolehills race this sunday, come along and support your friends at the funnest BMX track we got going. The sessions will be on!

Be easy!

Variance..

Well, it's been a bit since the last update, apologies, things have been pretty hectic, but its been good. It was nice to take some time away from the bike and hang with my amazing friends and get a little bit merry.. Not falling off the wagon proper, not like Marco anyway..Ha!

So i've ridden a bunch of times mainly just Derby, Bolehills and a lil bit of Rotherham. The Derby sessions have been something else, i love that track and had an awesome session there last Thursday, loads were there, Marco, back on it for the first time after China, Clarke and bezzy mate Joe, those guys are livid! Bates back from injury and looking on it, Lauren and the Sheffield/Derby locals all laying it down and working the lines. I went again on Snday and the weather was awesome and Muzza added to the flava, along with boota and some of the other CGR crew! A good session, but i was fooked! Saturday i did and 8 hour session at Bolehills, it looks like another track, but it took its toll on me! Thanks to everyone that came and helped, Alex the Jew, Mooonbaay, The Taylors, Big Pete, PaulE, you guys all rock and i can't believe how much we got done!

The race should be good next week for sure - i'm pumped on it! I just hope we get a little bit of rain this week just so everything beds in nice.

Not a lot going on other than riding and digging. Warren and Hannah got back on Sunday and I caught up with them Sunday evening, they were glowing and it was great to have them back in Sheffield. We had an awesome curry and played guitar hero, a game at which i ofiicially suck at. I blamed my tired hands on my poor performance. Thanks for the watch man, its amazing, and I love it.

I bought Have Hearts new album along with Verse's new one too - intense straightedge hardcore that is flippin' hectic, and wonderfully brutal.. I got off the hardcore flavour for a bit, but i always got love for it.

A couple of the panoramics from Ibiza from RB.Coms site, you know how he do. plenty skills.

We got love for you if you got love for us! Out!

Wedding Bells and Gin & Tonic Tales

This weeekend was the wedding of Warren and Hannah, and it was an absolutely awesome day! We went out for a shandy or 2 on Friday night and Warren was cool as a cucumber, we went into town and caught up with Steve Taylor and those guys who were having another stag do before steve gets wed in a matter of weeks. They were all pretty mash up! Warren played it cool and just had a couple of beers, i had a mini-mash up and had a quality time. Good to see everyone out in full force and getting in to the swing of things.

Saturday morning i organised breakfast, with croissants and fresh coffee and again, Warren was totally cool and chilled. We had a lazy morning watching surfing videos with Warrens old friend from SA Colin, who was staying at mine for the weekend. He has travelled the world shooting a body boarding movie in some of the worlds hottest surf locations for his movie Don't Stop Dreaming, we watched a snippet teaser and i must say it is absolutely awesome. A super cool guy with some amazing stories to tell, and completely living out his dream. Awesome.

We got on our suits and we all looked fresh to def! I didn't take any pictures but many were taken, plenty by RB.com who was the Official wedding photographer on the day and i'm pretty pumped to see what he got! A few shots by the OC too, so i'll see if i can get a good group shot of us up here soon.

We walked to the Church and mingled and awaited Hannah to arrive. Warren, Myself, Dev and Hannahs brother Tom walked to the front of the church and stood waiting, when Hannah walked through to the Live version of Coldplays - Yellow, it was a pretty big moment. Warren looked to have had the wind taken out of him and his expression said it all. A moment I shan't forget. The service was awesome and everything went well, i didn't lose the rings, no one fainted, and no one messed up any of thier roles, it was perfect.

We then went and had pictures over at the Botanical Gardens and the weather held out for us. We then headed to the reception and had Pimms and some wine, the food was delicous, and there was plenty of wine for everyone. I mingled most of the day between jobs and errands and met some really cool people, enjoyed some good chats and everyone was in super high spirits. I was pretty nervous about my speech, but after Hannah's Dad's speech and Warrens semi-adlibbed piece i was feeling alright. Warrens was going to be a tough act to follow though, he gave an awesome one and was totally chilled with it all.

My speech couldn't have gone better though, i read some messages from people that couldn't be there, and that let me overcome my initial nerves, and my speech rolled out nicely, i got some good laughs and Warren and Hannah really like it. I got some praise afterwards and sank about 4 bottles of stella in as many minutes, ice cold beer never, ever tasted so good! We had a bit of a party there but things wrapped up at 11. Hannah and Warren harper shot off to get their grind on, and we headed into town, me still in the top coat and tails! BAM! it was super funny and I got pretty mashed up, but it was a lot of fun for sure. An awesome day, and I wish Warren and Hannah the very best, for a long, happy future together. Oh Yeah!

On Sunday I felt a little rouge, and along with the rain when i got out of bed decided not to race. I ran a few errands and got to Rotherham for about 1pm, they still hadn't started racing, so i caught up with Paddy and Pete and chatted about the wedding and had a laugh, i decided to so the commentary and supply the beats. MC D-Child performed well, but wasn't his full self with W-Bomb reppin' with him. He'll have been in the airport lounge heading off to his honeymoon to get at it like rabbits. Probably.

Anyway other than the odd hectic shower, the day went well i even managed to get an hours ride in and actually felt good on my bike, i should have raced! Ha ha.

In work now and its rubbish, the weather ain't all that, so i'll be making the most of the wet ground and getting my dig on at the hills later - Be-lee that.

Over and Out x

Derby BMX

We've had perfect weather this week, so i've been making the most of it! Rode Bolehills Monday eve, which i must say is running super smooth. I think 2 weeks time i'm going to organise a work party to get the rest of that dollar down, do some weeding and strimming and get it looking good in time for our regional. I'd really like it to go well. I'm also very interested in getting a good PA for the day and having some good music and maybe throwing down a BBQ. Just ideas, what do people think?

Good news in the shape of Kelvin back on the bubble in Aigle, the offending jump has been sorted and he's snapping the French as I type. Do the business brah!

Rode Derby last night, only 2 straights are finished, well, 1 and 3/4 and they are quite possibly the best straights in the UK right now. Great turns, great shapes, all from the first build, now thats what i'm talking about. JC along with Clarke, Kent and some rad dude that flips shady council built spines are working on it, and they're killing it.

Lovely start hill, roller at the bottom, a large step up, over a massive roller, then a roller onto a table with a double on top, followed a large triple step up into the first turn.

Out of that is a triple, then a mammoth roller into 3 progressivley larger doubles with seriously tight bowls between them. If you can picture it the pro line is the skyline, mammoth roller into double, then deck to deck along the top - SHEESH!

I got it all done apart from the double into turn 2, but it hadn't been sorted yet. I was pumped and stoked on the session and I felt really good on the bike again, something i've not felt since China! Lauren and Ryan and the other Derby guys are onto a good thing, and i can see me becoming a regular once its done, 45 minutes door to door isn't so bad, and man, it is worth it!

I'll just be chilling for the rest of this week, maybe a road ride or 2 before the wedding, just play it safe and practise my speech as much as i can. It's get nervous time.

Out!
